While caucasian women get breast cancer more often than African-American women, African-American women die far more often from this disease. Research shows that this may be because African-American women do not get regular mammograms.
To bridge this gap, Premier Community Health created My Sister's Keeper. My Sister’s Keeper is a great way for African-American women in the greater Dayton region to have fun and potentially save lives in the process. Schedule a My Sister’s Keeper party and learn about the importance of mammography, breast care, and breast cancer early detection for African American women.
Parties can be held anywhere. All you have to do is set the date, find a location and invite friends and family. Premier Community Health will do the rest including and providing:
- Invitations
- Posters
- Goody bags
- Decorations
- Door prizes
- Life-saving information
Parties are free. Before the party is over, attendees are asked to sign a pledge to get a mammogram. If you’re uninsured or can’t afford your co-pay, you may be eligible for a free mammogram.
Any group of African-American women age 40 or older can call Premier Community Health at (937) 227-9484 and book a free party.
