Premier Community Health is recruiting community health screeners and other health professionals to support our mission to build a healthier community.  We offer health screenings and education programs at community events, places of worship, neighborhood centers and for local employers throughout the greater Dayton region.

Health Screening Coordinator

This position reports to the Program Director and is a full-time, exempt position. This individual coordinates a pool of contractual community health screeners and supervises a program assistant.

Position Summary
The Health Screening Coordinator is responsible for coordination and oversight of the health screening programs, especially training and supervising the health screener contractor pool. This position has heavy emphasis on recruiting new contractors and coordinating training for new and seasoned screeners. Also responsible for overall quality of screenings, including proficiency testing and maintenance of records. Assures screening standards are up to date and reflect current evidence-base. This person should be comfortable educating screeners and the public and be able to get along well with all kinds of people. Also works with screening sites to assure they understand our programs and books programs into the database.

Competencies
The individual in this position should be action oriented, self-directed, comfortable around higher management, have a customer focus, be able to solve problems and be able to manage unforeseen circumstances with grace.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in health education, nursing or related field required. Master's degree preferred. CHES preferred, but not required. At least 2 years experience in community health screenings or corporate health. At least 1-year supervisory experience, strong people skills and the ability to handle several projects at once. Must be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Should understand Microsoft Access and how databases work. Must have valid Ohio driver's license. Light evening and weekend work may be required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Candidate must be able to lift 35 pounds safely. PCH is a tobacco and fragrance-free environment.

Community Health Screeners

Premier Community Health uses community health screeners at events to perform fingerstick screenings for cholesterol, blood sugar and hemoglobin A1c, blood pressure, height, weight and body mass indices.  We are recruiting RNs, LPNs, medical technicians, health educators and other professionals in similar fields to join our team.  Community health screeners are contracted individuals who work when and where they choose.  Community health screeners are not employees of Premier Health. 

All Community health screeners must have reliable transportation, a current driver’s license, and automobile insurance.  You must also be proficient at conducting fingersticks and manual blood pressures.  It is not required to have a current nursing license.  Screeners receive ongoing paid credentialing and training.

All new screeners must complete a two-session training.  The first session is an informational meeting to learn about these contractual positions.  Those who wish to become a community health screener must attend the second session for training and credentialing.  The next training program will be:

All sessions are held at Premier Community Health, 23 Jasper Street (3 blocks south of Miami Valley Hospital).

Premier Community Health may contract with licensed, experienced health professionals to provide programs.  We may have a need for:

  • Diabetes Educators (CDE)
  • Adult Asthma Educators (Certification not required)
