Dayton Business Journal 2022 Diversity in Business Awards Honor Individuals

Kathy Harper, system vice president, chief marketing and communications officer; and Barbara Johnson, chief operating officer, have been named 2022 Dayton Business Journal Diversity Champions. Individuals are honored within the community from for-profit and nonprofit organizations who have shown outstanding initiative to promote diversity and inclusion either in the organization or community, making a positive difference in others’ lives through contributions to social justice, equality and diversity.

Dayton Business Journal 2021 Diversity in Business Awards Honor Fidelity Heath Care and Premier Community Health

The 2021 Dayton Business Journal Diversity in Business Awards honored Fidelity Health Care and Premier Community Health. Organizations are recognized that have contributed to harnessing diversity within their work forces and actively taking the lead to promote and champion the business case for diversity within the community or their industries.

In addition, Eloise Broner, chief of shared services, and Dr. Andre Harris, vice president of operations and chief medical officer at Atrium Medical Center, have been named 2021 Dayton Business Journal Diversity in Business individual winners. Individuals are honored within the community from for-profit and nonprofit organizations who have shown outstanding initiative to promote diversity and inclusion either in the organization or community, making a positive difference in others’ lives through contributions to social justice, equality and diversity.

Premier Health Named Winner of Dayton Business Journal 2020 Diversity in Business Awards

The Dayton Business Journal 2020 Diversity in Business Awards recognize organizations that have contributed to harnessing diversity within their work forces and actively taking the lead to promote and champion the business case for diversity within the community or their industries. Premier Health has been named the 2020 large company winner.

In addition, Adrian Taylor, director of diversity at Premier Health, has been named a 2020 Dayton Business Journal Diversity in Business individual winner. Individuals are honored within the community from for-profit and nonprofit organizations who have shown outstanding initiative to promote diversity and inclusion either in the organization or community, making a positive difference in others’ lives through contributions to social justice, equality and diversity. 

Modern Healthcare Recognizes Premier Health for Leading in Diversity

Premier Health is one of nine organizations across the nation being recognized by Modern Healthcare as a top diversity organization in 2022. The organizations are being recognized for demonstrating a commitment to diversity in their workforces, including at an executive and board level, according to Modern Healthcare. Premier Health was recognized specifically for:

  • its emerging talent academy, which provides potential new leaders an opportunity to participate in a 12-week leadership development program.
  • its seven employee resource groups, which provide opportunities for community engagement, networking, leadership development, and fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging.

Premier Health First in Ohio, Second in Nation to Achieve System-Wide Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation

Premier Health is the first health system in Ohio and second in the nation to achieve system-wide Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) in June 2020. This distinction from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) recognizes emergency departments that provide excellent care for older adults.

The bronze standard Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation applies to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown (which was accredited in October 2019), Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Miami Valley Hospital Austin Boulevard Emergency Center in Miamisburg, Miami Valley Hospital Jamestown Emergency Center in Jamestown, Miami Valley Hospital North in Englewood, Miami Valley Hospital South in Centerville, and Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.

 

Dayton Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers Award– Eight Years In a Row (2014 - 2021)

Once again, Premier Health has been named one of the top 25 healthiest employers in Dayton, as awarded by the Dayton Business Journal. Healthiest Employers is an awards program to recognize employers that proactively shape the health of their employees with outstanding health and well-being programs. The companies taking part have made a commitment to impact the health of their workplace and have demonstrated that the well-being of employees is a critical part of the corporate culture.

Premier Health Earns Healthy Worksite Platinum Award

Premier Health has again received the highest honor granted by the Healthy Business Council of Ohio (HBCO): a 2021 Healthy

Worksite Platinum Award. The Healthy Worksite Award recognizes Ohio employers that demonstrate a commitment to employee wellness through comprehensive worksite health promotion and wellness programs. Applicants are scored on the extent to which their wellness programs facilitate and encourage employee health, enhance productivity, and ensure a healthy work environment. Premier Health is extremely proud to be recognized at the highest level for the fourth consecutive year.

Premier Health Among 2022 Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America

For the second year in a row, Premier Health has been named one of the Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America by Healthiest Employers® for its investment in the health and well-being of employees. This award honors organizations that demonstrate care for their people by investing in health and well-being solutions and initiatives.

Premier Health Workplace Diversity Award

In 2017, the Greater Dayton Workplace Diversity Award was renamed to the Premier Health Workplace Diversity Award, honoring Premier Health, the award’s first winner. Premier Health was recognized as the gold standard for diversity in the workplace, a role model in the community, and a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion. The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce and the National Conference for Community & Justice of Greater Dayton have presented this award since 2006 to companies that foster an inclusive work environment in which all employees are inspired to contribute through different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences.

Premier Health Earns 2020 Most Wired Recognition 

Premier Health has been recognized as a “Most Wired” health system for 2020 by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). Premier Health is the only health system in the Dayton area named to the list, and one of only 20 in Ohio. The CHIME Digital Health Most Wired program conducts an annual survey to assess how effectively healthcare organizations apply core and advanced technologies into their clinical and business programs to improve health and care in their communities. Each participating organization received an overall score and scores for individual levels in eight segments: infrastructure; security; business/disaster recovery; administrative/supply chain; analytics/data management; interoperability/population health; patient engagement; and clinical quality/safety. Participants received certification based on their overall performance, with level 10 being the highest. Premier Health is certified at Level 7.

40 Under 40 Award

Premier Health employees Roopsi Narayan and Dr. Louis Okafor were awarded the Dayton Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 for 2022, which is determined largely by community service and professional accomplishments.

Premier Health employees Marc Belcastro II, Holly Walsh, and MiLinda Zabramba, MD, were awarded the Dayton Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Award for 2021, which is determined largely by community service and professional accomplishments.

Atrium Medical Center Awards and Achievements

Rehabilitation Nationally Ranked By U.S. News & World Report

Among all hospitals nationwide, Atrium Medical Center was ranked 50th in the nation for rehabilitation services, according to U.S. News & World Report.

2020 Healthgrades® America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™

This award recognizes Atrium Medical Center as one of the top 100 hospitals in the country. Atrium Medical Center received its first America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™ from Healthgrades®. This distinction places it among the top 2 percent of hospitals in the country for demonstrating clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care.

2020 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award

This award ranks Atrium Medical Center among the top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation for patient safety. The Patient Safety Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for their performance in safeguarding patients from serious and potentially preventable complications during their hospital stay.

Miami Valley Hospital Awards and Achievements

Ranked Ninth In Ohio By U.S. News & World Report

Miami Valley Hospital ranked ninth among Ohio’s hospitals in the  2023 rankings by U.S. News & World Report. For the seventh consecutive year, the hospital achieved the highest ranking in the Dayton metropolitan area. The distinction includes Miami Valley Hospital North in Englewood and Miami Valley Hospital South in Centerville.

2021 Healthgrades® America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™

This award recognizes Miami Valley Hospital as one of the top 100 hospitals in the country. Miami Valley Hospital received its sixth consecutive America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™ from Healthgrades® in 2021. This distinction places it among the top 2 percent of hospitals in the country for demonstrating clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care.

Pulmonology, Nephrology, Diabetes Care Nationally Ranked By U.S. News & World Report

Among all hospitals nationwide, Miami Valley Hospital was ranked 28th in the nation for pulmonology, 48th in the nation for nephrology, and 49th in the nation for diabetes and endocrinology, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Upper Valley Medical Center Awards and Achievements

U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report Upper Valley Medical Center achieved a “high performing” designation from U.S. News & World Report 2022 for treatment of kidney failure for the second consecutive year.

2021 Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award

This award ranks Upper Valley Medical Center among the top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation for patient safety. The Patient Safety Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for their performance in safeguarding patients from serious and potentially preventable complications during their hospital stay.

2019 Healogics Robert A. Warriner III, MD, Center of Excellence Award

This award recognizes the Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Service at Upper Valley Medical Center. The Robert A. Warriner III, MD, Center of Excellence Award distinguishes outstanding clinical outcomes for at least two consecutive years, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a wound healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days.

Fidelity Health Care Awards and Achievements

Fidelity Health Care was named to the Top 500 of the 2019 HomeCare Elite, the 12th consecutive year Premier Health’s home health agency has been recognized on the list of top-performing home health agencies in the United States. HomeCare Elite compiles the most successful Medicare-certified home health providers in the country. This annual review identifies top agencies by measuring performance in quality outcomes, implementation of best practices, patient experience, quality improvement and consistency, and financial health.
