Ribbons Over Miami Valley a Success

The annual Ribbons Over Miami Valley campaign to raise funds for the Premier Community Health mammography voucher program was again a success.  The campaign, which was held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, sold pink ribbon cards for $1 each at area businesses.   Ribbons were sold at 45 locations and $5,442 was raised.

The money raised is used to provide mammograms and breast health services.  Mammograms are provided free of charge to low income women who do not have health insurance.  The program is also able to help insured women who need additional diagnostic services, but have a high deductible or co-pay and meet the program guidelines.

“I wish to express my thanks to all of the businesses that participated in the campaign and to everyone who bought a ribbon,” said Pam Jacques, Executive Director, Premier Community Health.  “Every dollar adds up and can help someone get an annual mammogram, which continues to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer early when it is most treatable.”

The campaign will be held again in October 2015 and we hope to add even more locations.  Any business interested in participating can contact Sharon Freeze at (937) 227-9425 or freeze@pch-dayton.org.  We are also seeking individuals who may be interested in serving on the campaign planning committee and helping to recruit additional businesses.
